In October 1941, lieutenant Streltsov made his first sortie, he shot down one plane and rams the second. For this battle, he is awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

A Georgian warrior witnesses the heroic death of a local communist girl in the battle for one of the Russian villages. The wounded warrior returns to his native village, but thinking about the girl does not give him rest, and his photography becomes the cause of misunderstanding with his bride.

The film evokes count Pongrácz, who, as late as the 19th century, managed to live a life, which reminds one of his medieval ancestor's values. He acts in defiance of the town by fighting his own battle against it, having been offended by the town.
