  • You can now review and favorite people. Every director and actor page has a review button — rate them, write about them, read what the community thinks, and pin your favorites.

  • Reviews of people have full comment threads too — reply to a review, like comments, and keep the conversation going, just like on films and shows.

  • Favorite people on profiles now get the full poster treatment — the same cards as your favorite films, with reveal-on-hover details and drag-to-reorder.
  • Profiles feel more open — the box that used to wrap the profile tabs and their content is gone, letting each section breathe on the page.
  • Favoriting is no longer a hidden star in the corner — every review window now has a clear "Add to favorites" button right under Log it, for films, shows, seasons, and episodes alike.
Fixed
  • List cards were undercounting — a list with 30 films claimed it had 6 or 7. Cards now show the real totals, no matter how big the list.
  • Rapidly switching feeds and filters on the activity page could strand you on an endless spinner or mix results from the previous view — switches now land cleanly every time, and the same tune-up went into the profile's watched and watching tabs, list pages, and network pages.

Stats, squared away

  • List pages have tips now too — every button in the header explains itself the first time you see it, from the random-pick dice to the list settings.

  • The stats overview now lives in its own framed card too, with the share button tucked neatly into the header — the same compact style as the favorites sections.
  • The floating corner buttons — the search wand and the tips ? — are a touch smaller, so they cover less of what's behind them.
  • The search bar, filter tags, and view buttons on the watched and watching tabs now use the exact same spacing as the search and list pages — one familiar layout everywhere you filter.
  • The first-time tips switch now follows your account instead of the device you flipped it on — turn tips off once and they stay off everywhere you sign in.
  • Activity feed tips now introduce the two switchers too — personal / following / community, and all / films / shows.
  • Movie and show page tips now point out the trailer button when there's a trailer to watch.
Fixed
  • On desktop, the profile action buttons had a double-width gap where the mobile-only tilt button hides — the row is evenly spaced again. And the profile tips now cover the settings button too.
  • Episode scores on show pages now sit in the same crisp black bar as everywhere else — they used to melt into the shadow behind the episode title.
  • Filter tag rows are now scrollable with a mouse — drag them sideways or roll the wheel over them. Before, cut-off tags on desktop were simply unreachable.

Little hints, big difference

New
  • New to Flickfolio? The first time you visit a movie or show page, a friendly hint points out where to log what you've watched — and later, where to save titles to a list. Tap anywhere and it's gone for good.
  • Missed a tip or want a refresher? Pages with tips now have a little ? button in the corner that walks you through them again, one at a time.
  • The activity feed and your lists page have tips now too — where the filters live, what the feed view icons mean, and how to start a new list.
  • Profiles have tips too — what the tabs hold, how sharing works, and an easy-to-miss gem: tilt gravity for the cover posters.
  • Not a tips person? Appearance settings has a switch to turn the hints and the ? button off on your device — flip it back anytime.
Improved
  • Profile pages got a design refresh — the tabs are now the same sleek pill-style switcher as the search page, and each section (favorites, watching, watched, reviews, lists, stats) lives in its own neatly framed card.
  • The tip bubbles and the floating corner buttons now dress to match whatever page they're on — including movie and show pages tinted by their poster.
  • The Films / Shows / Seasons / Episodes switcher on a profile's reviews tab now matches the main tabs above it — same tidy counts, no more parentheses.

  • Changing your username no longer strands the Profile tab on a page that doesn't exist — it now follows you straight to your new address.

Six more header effects, and rings done right

New
  • A new way to style your page: canvas finishes. Give your background effect one of eleven retro treatments — pixelated, dithered, 1-bit noir, posterized, CRT scanlines, an LCD grid, halftone dots, film grain, a vignette, VHS ghosting, or glitch — right under the effect preview in your appearance settings, for your profile and your lists, with a slider to dial in exactly how strong it is.
  • Six new header effects: paw prints, suns, gems, music notes, bells, and tiny mushrooms — two dozen shapes to float through your profile and list headers.
Improved
  • Appearance settings are easier to scan: each section — theme, spotlight colors, header effects, background effects — now sits in its own card, so you can tell at a glance where one ends and the next begins. Your list's appearance panel and the quick theme picker got the same treatment, plus a proper heading for the list panel's theme grid.
  • When picking header effects, hovering a shape now previews it alongside the ones you've already chosen — so you see what adding it would actually look like — and your list's appearance panel now has the same live hover preview.
  • The randomize, reset, and clear buttons in appearance settings are now proper buttons — same style in every section, and much easier to tap on a phone. Spotlight colors picked up a randomize button, and lists can now clear their background effect with one tap too.
  • Filter tag rows — on search, lists, people and network pages, and your watched and watching tabs — now stay on one tidy line you can swipe through, with a soft fade at the edge whenever more tags are waiting off-screen.
  • Profile pictures in the activity feed now wear a thin ring in that person's own theme color — a little glimpse of everyone's style right in the feed.
Fixed
  • The clubs header effect actually looks like a club now — three proper leaves and a stem, instead of a green blob.
  • On Windows, opening any dialog nudged the whole page sideways a few pixels and nudged it back on close. The page now holds perfectly still — and picks up a sliver of extra width that was quietly reserved for a second, invisible scrollbar.
  • No more endless spinners on a shaky connection. The activity feed, search, lists, and profile pages now quietly retry when a request drops — and if the network is truly down they tell you, instead of spinning forever until you toggled something.
  • The 3D coin on a profile now counts every show you've logged — including ones you're still watching — so its shows number finally matches the one on your card in people search.
  • If someone gave their profile its own theme, the colored ring around their avatar — on people cards in search and in the little card that pops up when you hover a name — now matches that profile theme instead of their app theme.

Eight new header effects, and more of everything for free

New
  • Sixteen themes are now free — the first four rows of the theme picker, for your app, your profile, and your lists. Ex Machina, Taste of Tea, Casablanca, Kamikaze Girls, I'm a Cyborg, August in the Water and Chocolat have all come off the Pro shelf.
  • The first row of header effects is free too: hearts, stars, sparkles, squares, circles, and moons can float across your profile and list headers without Pro — and you can recolor them however you like.
  • Spotlight colors are now free for everyone. Pick the two colors that light up your profile header, the same way you already could on a list.
  • Eight new shapes to float through your profile and list headers: triangles, clouds, flames, bolts, ghosts, crowns, spades, and clubs — eighteen in all, and every one is yours to recolor.
Improved
  • Every section of your appearance settings now shares one look — centered headings and descriptions, from your theme all the way down to background effects — and each one tells you up front how many of its options are free.
  • Keeping your own theme when visiting other people now sits right under the profile theme setting, instead of at the very bottom of your appearance settings.
  • Picking header effects now works exactly like picking a background effect: the same tidy grid of tiles, and colors set from labeled chips under the preview instead of a picker squeezed into every tile. Your list's appearance panel gets the randomize and reset buttons too.
  • Two customization settings have clearer names: the floating shapes in your header are now called header effects, and the animated scenes behind your page are now background effects. Your choices are exactly as you left them — only the labels changed.
Fixed
  • Episodes with no ratings yet — an upcoming one, say — no longer leave an empty band under their title in a show's season list. The name and air date now sit neatly on the bottom edge.

Peek at people, and a softer landing on your stats

New
  • Hover anyone's name to peek at who they are — their photo, bio, and how much they've watched — without leaving the page, just like hovering a cast member. It works across the activity feed, list bylines, the reviews on a film or show, comment threads, and the friends who've watched something.
Improved
  • Your stats now come to life as you scroll to them — each row eases in one card after another, and every chart draws itself in right as you reach it instead of already being finished.
Fixed
  • In your activity feed, hovering the name under a poster no longer makes the poster itself zoom in and pull up its details.

Reviews, easier to write and read

New
  • You can now log a film, show, season, or episode as many times as you've seen it. Each watch is its own entry with its own date, rating, and review, so a rewatch can get a fresh take, and your whole history sits right there to edit or remove. Logging again is the same one tap every time — and it works identically everywhere now.
  • Reviews now have a proper formatting editor — like writing in a document. Use the toolbar (or select some text) to make it bold or italic, add a heading, a bulleted or numbered list, a quote, or strikethrough, and you'll see it styled right as you type. Your older reviews stay exactly as they were.
  • Your review is now saved as you write it. Get pulled away, or close the box by accident, and your rating and words are waiting for you the next time you open it.
  • A movie or show page now shows what the friends you follow actually wrote about it — read a snippet right in the details and tap through to the full review and its comments.
  • You can now mark a whole-show review as a spoiler, just like you already could for movies, episodes, and seasons.
  • The first 18 profile background effects are now free — snow, rain, confetti, hearts, sparkles and more — so you can decorate your profile without Pro.
Improved
  • The review box now has real room to write — it's wider and taller on larger screens, so a longer write-up doesn't feel cramped.
  • When logging a film or an episode, your rating and the date you watched now sit side by side instead of stacked — a little less scrolling to reach the review.
  • Long reviews now show a “Read more” link exactly when the text is actually cut off — no stray links on short reviews, and nothing quietly hidden on long ones.
  • The reviews box looks the same whether or not you're signed in — the same tabs and layout, so nothing jumps around when you log in.
  • On sign-up, if you try to create your account before confirming you're 16+ and accepting the terms, the page now scrolls up and highlights that checkbox instead of leaving the button quietly greyed out.
  • You can now preview any background effect before choosing, including the Pro ones — tap it and it keeps playing in the preview box so you can see what it looks like.
Fixed
  • Spoiler-tagged reviews on TV show pages are now properly hidden until you choose to reveal them.
  • Saving a review no longer makes a movie or show page's colors flash for a moment.
  • Reordering your favorites no longer reloads the page mid-drag — your new order just sticks.
  • The quick theme menu now highlights the theme you're actually using — it no longer shows an out-of-date selection after you change your theme in settings.

Answers, all in one place

New
  • There's a new FAQ page answering the questions people ask most — how to track shows and episodes, build watchlists with friends, what Flickfolio Pro includes, and more. Find it in the footer, and jump straight into the app from any answer.
  • Movie and show pages now show the country of origin among the details, and shows list their network too.
  • Tap a show's network to open a dedicated page of the most popular shows on that network — HBO, Netflix, AMC and more — with ratings and where to watch.
Improved
  • Filtering or sorting a filmography now updates the address bar, so you can bookmark or share a link that opens with those exact filters applied.
  • Cast and crew pages now gently take on the colors of the person's photo — the same adaptive theming that movie and show pages already use. You can turn it off in settings.
  • The 3D coin on a profile got a makeover: the back now reads like a real minted coin, with the Flickfolio name repeating around the rim, and shows your films, shows, and lists counts, bigger and easier to read.

  • On a show's page, the collectible 3D case now shows the country the show comes from instead of its network, and credits the Creator rather than a Director.

  • On Android, page titles like "All Activity" and "Film Search" no longer hide behind the front camera or status bar — every page now leaves room for them at the top.
  • Using Flickfolio as a home-screen web app on iPhone? Page titles now clear the notch there too.
  • Opening Search from a menu or link could drop you partway down the page. Now you always start at the top — while the back button still returns you to right where you left off in your results.
  • Profile pages no longer flash a black section while the animated backdrop loads — the page background now matches your theme from the first moment.
  • The floating movie posters on profile and watchlist pages are back in the iPhone app — they had quietly stopped showing up there.

  • Adding or removing a movie or show across several lists at once now saves in a single step — snappier, with far less background churn afterward.
  • The search page loads lighter: it now fetches just the star ratings it needs to decorate posters instead of your full review history, and only for the tab you're actually looking at.
  • Tapping the "What's new" banner now opens the Updates tab right where you are — in the notification bell or on the notifications page — instead of taking you away to the updates page.

  • Six new Pro themes inspired by Japanese, Korean, and Hong Kong cinema: The Handmaiden (jade and antique gold), Memories of Murder (rain-soaked olive), Chungking Express (midnight neon amber), Happy Together (tango red and turquoise), Lady Snowblood (snow white and blood crimson), and Tokyo Drifter (tan and charcoal blue). Find them in your settings or any list's appearance panel.
  • When you scroll past everything matching all your selected genres, search now keeps going with titles matching any of them — a clear divider marks where the broader matches begin.
  • A new Collaborating collection on the lists page gathers every shared watchlist in one place — ones you've joined and ones you've shared with others — newest first.
  • Header effects now have randomize and reset too — roll fresh colors for all your shapes at once, or jump back to the defaults.
  • A randomize button in the background effect color pickers — in both your settings and your list's appearance panel — rolls a fresh color palette with one click. Keep rolling until something clicks, or hit reset to get the original colors back.

  • Poster grids across the app load noticeably faster on phones — posters now download in a size that fits your screen and only as they scroll into view, the first poster starts arriving sooner, and scrolling long grids is smoother. All without changing how anything looks.
  • The big backdrop images behind movie and show pages now download in a phone-sized version on mobile — often several MB lighter per page — while large screens keep the full-resolution originals.
  • Notifications load more gracefully: poster thumbnails fade in over a soft placeholder instead of popping, and the unread badge on the bell and tab bar eases in instead of appearing abruptly.
  • Movie and show posters everywhere now fade in softly as they arrive instead of popping onto the screen — and posters you've already seen still appear instantly, so browsing never feels slower.

  • Search results no longer hide lesser-known films and shows behind a popularity threshold — browsing by popularity now reaches the full catalog, while rating-based sorting still requires enough votes for scores to be trustworthy.
  • Like hearts and favorite stars across the app — on activity cards, review modals, and watchlist cards — now match your theme like every other button, showing as filled when active instead of turning red or yellow.
  • TV static is fully retired: spoiler covers are now clean theme-colored surfaces with the reveal button, missing episode thumbnails show the same elegant title card as posters, and the flickering backgrounds behind "see more" cards and heroes are gone.
  • The lists page sidebar now separates your personal collections — Liked, Favorited, and Collaborating — from the feed tabs, and picking one gives the page its own clear heading so it's obvious what you're looking at.
  • Season sections on show pages are cleaner: the per-episode rating chart is gone, and each season's community score now reads as a simple "FLICKFOLIO 4.8" in the header instead of stars and a logo.
  • Movies and shows without poster art now show an elegant themed card with the title on it — a little clapperboard, film-strip edges, and your theme's colors — instead of flickering TV static, so you can actually tell what the title is.
  • Recommendations on movie and show pages got a much smarter brain: sequels and prequels now always lead, themes like "heist" or "time loop" pull in genuinely similar titles, and foreign-language films recommend their own cinema — with a nudge toward the same era, too.
  • The score strip on posters now fades in gracefully — late-arriving scores slide smoothly into the row instead of popping in, and profile pictures crossfade in once they've actually loaded.
  • The app theme picker no longer appears in the navigation bar on list pages — lists show their own theme there, so the two pickers were easy to mix up.
  • Watchlist settings and create-list dialogs now use the same compact text styling as the rest of the app, so labels and fields no longer look oversized on small phone screens.
  • The search bar, filter tags, and view-mode toggle on watchlist and profile library pages now have the same frosted-glass look as the buttons around them, so they sit nicely over themed backgrounds and background effects.
  • Watchlist descriptions on your lists page now show three lines instead of two — and when one's cut off, it fades out gently and you can tap it (or hit "Show more") to read the whole thing.

  • The tilt-your-phone poster physics now only applies on profile and list pages where the tilt toggle lives — the floating posters on the home and sign-in screens no longer react to your phone's movement.
  • The liked and favorited filters on the lists page actually work now — they'd been silently coming up empty.
  • Like and favorite buttons on watchlist cards now show the real counts and your own liked/favorited state — they'd been stuck at zero until you interacted with them.
  • Unliking or unfavoriting a list while viewing the liked or favorited filter now removes it from the list right away.
  • Sorting on the lists page actually reorders the lists now — by created date, last modified, likes, or favorites — and the order holds as you scroll, switch tabs, or sort within your collections.
  • Switching feeds on the lists page no longer occasionally shows the wrong lists — a slow response from a previous tab, filter, or sort could paint over the view you'd just opened.
  • Review hearts on the activity feed and on profile review tabs now show the real like counts and remember which reviews you've liked — including likes made from a movie or show page's review modal.
  • Previewing themes in a list's appearance settings now cross-fades the page smoothly, just like the theme picker in the navigation bar.

Ratings at a glance

New
  • Background effect colors in your list's appearance settings now show every available swatch and include a reset button to get back to the original palette.
  • Six new background effects for your profile and lists: Projector Beam, Popcorn, Origami Cranes, Umbrellas, Movie Tickets, and Fire. Projector Beam replaces Speed Lines — if that was your pick, you've been switched over automatically.
  • Search now understands franchise questions — try "first godzilla movie", "3rd harry potter movie", or "latest mission impossible movie" and land straight on the exact film.
  • Seven new scenery effects: Mount Fuji (with a torii gate and drifting sakura), Desert Dunes with rolling tumbleweeds, a twinkling Night Skyline, a retro Synthwave horizon, Aurora over mountains, a Lighthouse sweeping its beam, and a swaying Bamboo Grove. The 3D Maze retired to make room — anyone using it now gets Mount Fuji.
  • A retro screensaver pack joins the background effects: grassy Meadow, Snowfield, Ocean Waves, the immortal bouncing DVD logo, growing Pipes, a 3D Maze corridor, and UFOs.
  • Search now understands guessed titles — type "harry potter 2004 movie" or "the iron rose 1973" and the right result shows up, even though those exact words aren't the title.
  • Misspelled a title? Search now works out what you meant and shows results for the corrected name, so a stray letter no longer means an empty page.
  • Cast and crew pages now get the same soft top fade on mobile as movie and show pages.
  • Personal scores on posters now show a tiny profile picture instead of a label — and when you browse someone else's profile, their posters show their rating and yours side by side, so you can instantly spot where your tastes agree (or really don't).
  • On your phone, profiles and watchlists have a new tilt button next to the other actions — turn it on and the floating posters respond to how you tilt your device. Off by default, so posters stay put unless you want them dancing.

  • Scenery background effects — Night Skyline, Mount Fuji, Desert Dunes, Synthwave, Aurora, Lighthouse, Bamboo Grove, Meadow, Snowfield, and Ocean Waves — now let you recolor every part of the scene, and each color swatch is labeled with what it paints (buildings, windows, moon, and so on).
  • The Desert Dunes, Night Skyline, Aurora, and Bamboo Grove effects got a big glow-up — a hazy desert sun over lit dune crests, a cratered moon over three depths of city with blinking antenna beacons, shimmering aurora curtains, and segmented bamboo with leaf fans in a soft shaft of light.
  • The shuriken background effect got a glow-up — six-point steel stars with a real open hub now spin lazily across the screen from every direction, joined by tumbling kunai daggers.
  • Picking your country in settings is much tidier — the long wall of country buttons is now the same compact, searchable dropdown you see when signing up.
  • Pop-up notifications now stay on screen long enough to actually read — errors linger a little longer than quick confirmations — and a slim countdown line shows how long they'll stick around.
  • The notch area on iPhone now gently fades to its new color when the page's colors change, matching the smooth cross-fade the rest of the app uses.
  • Poster ratings got a sleek redesign — instead of a corner badge and rows of tiny stars, each poster now shows one neat strip along the bottom: TMDB, the Flickfolio community, and your own rating, all as easy-to-compare numbers out of 5.
  • TMDB scores now use the familiar 5-point scale everywhere — the rating filter, movie and show pages, and trailer views all match, so you never have to convert between scales in your head.
  • Your watchlists are more comfortable on small phones — bigger posters, tidier card details sized for small screens, and compact action buttons that are easier to tap.
  • The little posters on your watchlist cards are now clean previews — no more crowded buttons on tiny artwork. Every action (trailer, share, add, remove) lives on the list's own page, one tap away.
  • Episode cards on show pages now look and behave exactly like every other poster — clean artwork with the ratings strip, hover (or first tap on mobile) for the episode's details, and a second tap to open it.
  • Season actions (mark all watched, review, clear) moved into a tidy centered row inside each season, right above its episodes — the season headers are cleaner and easier to tap.
  • Small phone polish: all the action buttons on watchlist cards are now the same size, and the footer takes up noticeably less room on mobile.
  • The notifications and profile menus now open like speech bubbles — a little pointer at the top aims at the icon you tapped, and the notification tabs match the sleek switcher from search.

Two themes are better than one

New
  • Your profile can now wear its own theme! Pick a separate look for your profile page in Settings → Appearance — you'll browse the app in your favorite theme while your profile shows off a different one to you and your visitors.
  • App updates now live right inside your notifications — flip the new tab in the bell menu or on the Notifications page to catch up on what's changed without leaving where you are.
  • Movie and show pages now elegantly fade into colors drawn from each poster — on for everyone by default, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings → Appearance or the theme picker.

  • Theme pickers everywhere got a compact makeover — neat little swatch cards with each theme's colors, so you can see far more themes at once without scrolling.
