From a small spark, a geopolitical conflagration is ignited, capable of causing enormous damage.

The Great Patriotic War, winter 1941. Food supplies ran out and supplies were blocked. Besieged Leningrad was dying of hunger: 125 grams of bread per day were given to employees, dependents and children. It was then that a gang appeared in the city, engaged in fraud and robbery. The criminals were mainly engaged in forgery of food cards. The name of their gang, ZIG ZAG, stood for "Defenders of German Interests —The Banner of Adolf Hitler."

In the fall of 2014, a young Russian journalist Alexei Suvorov, who dreams of money and fame, travels to Donbass as part of a humanitarian mission to interview the famous battalion commander Lesentsov, who is fighting on the side of the militia.
