Mama Micra
2024 · 24m
country: Germany
The mother of animation director Rebecca Blöcher didn’t want to live an ordinary life. She wanted “something more,” she explains in this stop-motion film. The people around her didn’t understand—in a letter written in 1968, a girlfriend criticizes her for going out on her own and making men jealous, while advising her to dress in a more “feminine” way and to join a cooking course. Blöcher’s mother brushed aside the advice. Years later still, she divorced her husband and stepped into the big wide world.

Helke Sander: Cleaning House
2023 · 1h 22m
country: Germany
Filmmaker and author Helke Sander is an icon not only of the women's movement, but also of new German cinema. Historical upheavals sometimes only need a small impulse to suddenly set petrified conditions in motion. Helke Sander triggered such a landslide-like change in Germany many years ago.

Wood

country: Germany
An environmental spy infiltrates the global syndicate for illegal timber trading. With the aid of a hidden camera he documents the chain of illegal activities, from harvesting of the wood to the marketing of “washed” products in supermarkets. This turns out to be an excellent motor for political change.

Europe
2022 · 1h 45m
country: France
Zohra has received a French residence permit for medical reasons, but when her health improves, she is supposed to leave the country. In the summer heat of her small town, dreams and everyday life merge into a shimmering narrative in the subjunctive.

Purple Sea
