Jimmy Joe Roche

When three friends take a road trip to an idyllic forest and drop acid, one is lured into a mystic web of hallucination and nightmare. Jimmy Joe Roche directs “Skin of Man,” an experimental horror film that creates vivid textures with avant-garde technique. The black and white film is free of dialogue but overflowing with raw atmosphere, a psychedelic film about lost innocence and demonic forces. Once the drugs hit, all bets are off, and what began as a quiet walk through the woods becomes a terrifying descent into the unknown. -KA.

"Leather" is released in conjunction with the opening of Jimmy Joe Roche's solo exhibition CRIMCRAW at the Erin Cluley Gallery in Dallas, Texas. Inspired by Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Begotten, Dog Star Man, Phil Solomon's films, and Peter Kubelka's 1958 Schwechater Beer commercial, Roche's dark distortions provide the perfect nightmare fuel.

Only the creator of "Spiderman of the Rings" could bring you this bizarre collision of footage from Arnold Schwarzenegger films and absurdist electronic music. Check out what composer Dan Deacon and collaborator Jimmy Joe Roche have come up with as Deacon's wild soundscape is married to the kaleidoscopic effects applied to clips from "Conan the Barbarian," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and "Total Recall."
