Arslan Elver (born October 22, 1980) is a Turkish animation supervisor at Framestore. Born in Şişli, Istanbul, Turkey, he has built an international career in high-end visual effects for film and television, working with leading studios including Framestore, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), MPC, Prime Focus, and Reel FX. Over the course of his career, he has specialised in character animation and performance-driven digital creatures within photoreal live-action environments.
Elver began his feature film career as a character animator and animator on productions such as The Golden Compass (2007), on which he was credited as Arslan Elvers, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008), and Where the Wild Things Are (2009), contributing to complex creature performances. He continued his work at Framestore on Clash of the Titans (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), further establishing his expertise in character-based visual effects within large-scale fantasy franchises.
He later joined ILM London, where he served as lead animator on Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), contributing to digitally animated performances integrated into photoreal feature productions. On the latter, he worked on the character Maz Kanata, earning industry recognition. His earlier ILM credit includes an associate animation supervisor on Ant-Man (2015). He also worked as a character animator at MPC on Maleficent (2014) and as a lead animator at Framestore on Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
At Framestore, Elver advanced to the role of animation supervisor, working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Christopher Robin (2018), Lady and the Tramp (2019), Tom & Jerry (2021), Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), Peter Pan & Wendy (2023), and IF (2024). He also contributed as an animator to Paddington in Peru (2024).
Elver has received multiple industry award nominations. He was nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Live Action Production for Christopher Robin (2018) at the 2019 Annie Awards, shared with Laurent Laban, Kayn Garcia, Claire Blustin, and Marc-André Coulombe. He also received an Annie Award nomination in the same category for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) at the 2018 ceremony, shared with Liam Russell, Alvise Avati, and Alessandro Ciucci. From the Visual Effects Society, he earned a nomination for Outstanding Animated Performance in a Photoreal Feature for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015) in 2016 for the character Maz, shared with Joel Bodin, Ian Comley, and Steve Cullingford. He was nominated for Outstanding Animated Character in a Photoreal Feature for "Tigger" in Christopher Robin (2018) in 2019, shared with Kayn Garcia, Laurent Laban, and Mariano Mendiburu. In 2020, he received two Visual Effects Society nominations for Lady and the Tramp (2019): Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode and Outstanding Animated Character in an Episode or Real-Time Project for "Tramp," shared with collaborators including Robert Weaver, Christopher Raimo, Michael Cozens, Bruno Van Zeebroeck, Thiago Lima Martins, Stanislas Paillereau, and Martine Chartrand.
