Michael Lum is an animation supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic London. He began his career in animation on the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–2020) before transitioning into the visual effects industry, where he worked on a number of major studio films. During his early career, he contributed in the animation department on projects such as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Rango (2011), and Super 8 (2011). Lum's career progressed with opportunities at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), where he expanded his filmography and assumed animation supervision responsibilities on a series of high‑profile films. He worked on Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), Ready Player One (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Following his relocation to the United Kingdom, his body of work includes involvement in Ant‑Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). Lum also served as animation supervisor, alongside Paul Kavanagh, on A Quiet Place: Day One (2024). This work was nominated for the 2024 Hollywood Professional Association Awards for Outstanding Visual Effects – Live Action Feature, a recognition shared with colleagues including Steve Hardy, Malcolm Humphreys, Jordan Harding, and Charmaine Chan.
