Rayane Mcirdi

In the 1980s, a family of Algerian origin set off from Parisian Suburb Asnières-sur-Seine in France towards Marseille to take the ferry to Algeria. Lydia is spending her first summer without her big sister, who has just gotten married. The father promises his children that they will discover a wonderful country that he has always been homesick for. In Mina the artist subtly evokes the death of his grandmother, a tutelary figure who came from Algeria, around whom were woven the ordinary and extraordinary stories and tales that make up the everyday life of the family. Through his practice consisting in collecting anecdotes and testimonies, and by making intimate portraits, Rayane Mcirdi provides a mouthpiece for his family and all those who are little listened to.

In a park, a lunch on the grass, by the water and with the family. Rayane Mcirdi's aunts and mother, born in the 1960s, recount their childhood memories, their passage from the slums of Sartrouville to the Mourinoux neighborhood, and their attachment to the city in which they grew up.

On the roof of the Genêt complex, four young people recount the riot in which they participated following the rape of Theo Luhaka by a police officer.

We no longer know whether Samir is a player, a coach, a journalist or himself...
