The meeting between Gianluca and Diana is one of those that are not forgotten and, what seemed only physical attraction, turns into true love. Diana is introduced by Gianluca to her daughter and immediately wins her sympathy.

El Pecado de Oyuki is a Mexican telenovela produced by Televisa in 1988. It was based on an original story by Yolanda Vargas Dulché, who also adapted the screenplay for television. The original comic book series was in the style of the foto-novela. For the role of Oyuki, the photographer selected the Mexican Japanese Sachiko Tsuchiya. Born in Tepic, Nayarit, she became the most recognizable Asian Mexican of her time. The telenovela was shown in the United States in 1988 through Univision. Dulché's story was also adapted for Brazilian television in 1967 and as a comic published starting April 11, 1975 by Grupo Editorial Vid. The Brazilian version was called "Yoshiko, um poema de amor" and starred actors Luis Gustavo and Rosa Miake.

Maricruz and Beatriz are school friends; Beatriz comes from a well-to-do family, whereas Maricruz belongs to a lower socioeconomic stratum. Both are on the verge of turning fifteen and are preparing to leave childhood behind. Issues within their family and social environments affect them directly; for Beatriz, her parents' marital breakdown becomes the primary obstacle to overcome, compounded by a sexual awakening fraught with taboos and misinformation. Meanwhile, Maricruz must contend with her mother's overprotectiveness and prejudices, as well as the tension caused by a neighbor who is obsessed with her.

Beatriz is a respectable widow who, since her husband's death, has dedicated herself to raising her children, Vicky and Juanito, alongside her mother-in-law, Dona Emilia. Beatriz meets the powerful millionaire Enrique de Martino, who dazzles her with his attentions, and she agrees to marry him.

Although virtually unknown outside the country, it achieved a popular and critical success in Mexico. It had a series of rotating writers and directors, among them Emmanuel Lubezki, Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón.

The telenovela revolves around the family dramas and corporate power struggles of two rival families. This rivalry dates back many years to when Arturo Montenegro and Eládio Gómez Luna vied for the love of the beautiful Ana Laura; ultimately, it was Eládio who married her. Years later, Ana Laura is deeply unhappy, enduring her husband's abuse and cruelty; her only solace is the love of her son Federico, who is the complete opposite of his father. Meanwhile, after being widowed, Arturo married the frivolous Nina, with whom he had three children: Rogelio, Ana Karen, and Paulina. Arturo is so consumed by his business affairs that he fails to notice the humiliations Nina and her children—Rogelio and Paulina—inflict upon Pedro, his son from his first marriage.

The story follows Isabel—known as "Chispita"—who was separated from her mother after the latter lost her memory in an accident. After growing up in an orphanage, Isabel is adopted by a widowed businessman, Don Alejandro; he hopes she will bring joy to the life of his daughter, Lili, who has become sad and ill-tempered since her mother's death—largely due to the influence of her teacher, the wicked Miss Irene. However, contrary to Alejandro's expectations, Isabel is not welcomed by his daughter; instead, she must contend with the malicious traps set for her by Lili and Miss Irene. Yet, Isabel also finds friends in the household, such as Juan Carlos (Lili’s older brother) and Gloria (the family’s maid). From her new home, Chispita begins the search for her mother.
